Project Description: Patrick Piuma of City Collaborative conceived of the temporary, pop-up, urban plaza to bring attention to the abundance of surface parking in Louisville and to provide a public community space in conjunction with the Idea Festival. The project became a truly collaborative effort between City Collaborative, Louisville Metro Government, Henry McGalliard Landscape Design, IXDA Louisville, as well as many other local volunteer groups and associations. The plaza was fully programmed with events for a 6 week long period. Core Design, a collaborative partner with Foxworth Architecture provided the modified shipping containers which housed food and drink vendors.
Foxworth Architecture provided initial design consultation and assistance as well as 3D modeling and graphic materials that were submitted to the Kentucky ASLA design awards which received the 2015 Honor Award.
